No One Goes Hungry (NOGH) started back on Sunday Nov 1st, 2020, at Caribbean Vibes Milton where we cooked 300 meals and fed our community with awesome volunteers like Kimberley Savage-Paulson and her son, Maliha Khan Ahmed and so many more. Within a month the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton helped us thru funding and coordination of Oakville volunteers, families to feed and so much more to expand the program to Oakville on a Saturday and one month after that we started NOGH in Acton and Georgetown where our amazing volunteers deliver from Milton to the seniors and other families who sign up.
We get fresh produce, fruit, frozen meat, dairy, bread, dry goods, and frozen veggies/fruit from various organizations. Food for Life is one of our biggest partners. La Rose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery - Milton, Ontario is another plentiful local partner. Optimist Club of Milton is another great bridge into the community as we make frozen meals for all the families who register for meals.
We have taken time to register as a non-profit organization and are working towards becoming a charity status in the next year and a half. Until then we don't qualify for many of the government grants, so we have to fundraise!! I paid for most of the gap because I love this project. With the growing need, we need more partners to give money-wise because we have food, volunteers, and families in need.
